Anti-angiogenic cancer treatment
The Verita Life Clinic has the latest technologies in Immunotherapy, Detox Treatments, Supportive Treatments & Therapies and Primary Cancer-Fighting Treatments. We’re proud to offer detailed and personalised treatment plans that fit individual needs.
As part of a winning strategy, anti-angiogenic regimens offer a specific advantage in cancer care. By blocking new blood vessel production, we can allow other cancer treatments to attack the tumour directly while carefully monitoring our patients’ progress.
It’s yet another tool for patients to use in their cancer care. To learn more about anti-angiogenic treatments, contact our patient care specialists and we can help you decide if this therapy could help you.
To make it easier to describe this treatment, we’ll start by describing angiogenesis, which is the process of making new blood cells. The process includes the migration, growth, and differentiation of endothelial cells, which line the inside wall of blood vessels.
Angiogenesis plays a critical role in the growth and spread of cancer. A blood supply is necessary for tumours to grow beyond a few millimetres in size. Tumours can cause this blood supply to form by giving off chemical signals that stimulate angiogenesis.
Tumours can also prompt healthy cells to produce angiogenesis-signaling molecules. The resulting new blood vessels feed the growing tumours with oxygen and nutrients, allowing the cancer cells to invade nearby tissues and to form new colonies of cancer cells, called metastases.
Why choose Anti-Angiogenic Therapy?
Angiogenesis inhibitors found in these therapies bind with endothelial cells and block their receptors. When they are signaled by cancer cells, they no longer get the message and stop the production of blood vessels that would deliver nutrients to feed the cancer.
